Jen Giattino, 53, the president of the Hoboken City Council, passes away unexpectedly.

After more than ten years in service, Hoboken City Council President Jen Giattino passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, according to New Jersey officials.

Details on Jen Giattino

First elected in 2011, Giattino was regarded as the “heart of Hoboken” and a welcoming figure in her neighborhood.

Jen Giattino, the mother of our three children and the love of my life, departed away unexpectedly. She was a devoted public worker who genuinely cared about this community in addition to being an amazing mother. In a statement given to The Post, her husband said, “Jen’s unwavering dedication, kindness, and passion touched so many lives here in Hoboken.”

According to reports, Giattino won reelection in 2015, 2019, and 2023.

Although the cause of her death was not immediately known, Tuesday night’s impact on those she left behind was profound.

Fisher claimed that because the two were running on the same ticket when she first campaigned for office almost ten years ago, she got to know Jen Giattino.

Giattino won reelection

After a three-year break, Giattino, who served as the 6th Ward representative, was elected council president for the sixth time last January, according to the Star Ledger.

According to Councilman Ruben Ramos Jr., Giattino went above and above for constituents and had a deep concern for the 57,000-person city.

With so many friends, Councilman Paul Presinzano said she was “bigger than life” while fighting back tears.

In a statement released Tuesday night, he said, “She was a beloved figure whose influence will be felt for generations to come because of her kindness, humility, and quiet determination.”

“The sense of loss we are all experiencing is beyond words.”
